A self taught artist, painting since 1986, Kim started her art career painting eggs with her young son as he sat next to her in his highchair.
As the years passed she was painting on anything that sat still, including rocks, gourds, wood, and okra, now with her small daughter in the highchair. She took a brief break from painting and taught kindergarten for 7 years. Then to combine her love of painting and continue her gift of teaching, she opened her first studio in 2001 and taught art. In 2009, Kim hammered two nails into her kitchen wall, hung a 16x20 canvas and painted the very first item in The Chicken Coop Series with an engaging rooster holding a steaming cup of coffee, which she titled “Cuppa Joe”! The local enthusiasm for Cuppa Joe and the following charming chickens she created, gave Kim the encouragement to focus completely on her art and paint full time! Her art has grown into a variety of different themes which include Flying Sweetly and Pink Oranges, both intuitively painted. My goal is to bring joy to the world through my art. It is a simple prescription for a smile. ~kgMore
